Europe
"The circle is once again complete and Jerry, you are now back where you belong.” - Loda |
The biggest news from Europe is the return of EGM to Alliance. With the TI3 winning team united are Alliance truely back? In a recent interview at The Defense, speaking on the removal of MyNuts, Loda said: "Playing with MyNuts was good and all but he felt like a collegae and not as a close friend as are the other four." With s4 also stating that his biggest regret about his time in Team Secret was that they never bonded out of game, it is clear at this point Alliance value team synergy and friendship above all else. Unfortunately, Alliance adding EGM means that the future of 4C&L doesn't look good; unless they had a replacement already lined up, it is unlikely that they'll be able to find one in time.
It is no surprise that after recent LAN successes OG, Team Secret and Team Liquid remain unchanged and the safe bet is that these will be dueling it out at the top of the European scene. The return of Synderen to a professional team is notable, as is the fate of the remnants of NiP, but only time will tell if NO-VASELINE and STEAK GAMING can find success.
CIS
No place for Illidan sadly... |
The CIS scene saw massive upheaval after The Frankfurt Major, with three of the longest serving carries on single teams moving around. With Silent replacing Illidan on Virtus Pro, XBOCT takes his place on Empire. Funn1k also joins Empire after being released from Navi. With the rosters all but locked, it looks likely that ArtStyle will also mostly return to Navi, once again showing the value of tried and tested team synergy.
Vega Squadron stay the same, and it is likely that they and Virtus Pro will consistently top the CIS region as they have post TI5.
Americas
Once again the Americas are full of drama. Ritsu unceremoniously kicked from former Cloud 9, then 1437 leaves to replace Biryu on the extremely shaky Digital Chaos, and then Ritsu joins back up with former Cloud 9 team-mates Brax, MSS and SVG to form Shazam. The eternal American shuffle continues. Team Unknown also disband with Greedy and ztok joining Artyk Gaming.
An interesting addition to the American scene is the reformed CoL, with three former NiP players (including subs) finding a home in Florida. CoL now have an undoubtedly talented lineup, but the medical problems that unfortunately plague Chessie could sadly be a problem.
EG stay the same and are clearly still head and shoulders above the rest in the Americas.
China
"We are gladly to announce, all former members of team DK.S have now officially joined the family of Invictus Gaming and will be playing under the brand of iG.Vitality from now on." - Invictus Gaming |
Not much change in the Chinese scene. EHOME, Vici Gaming, LGD and CDEC all remain unchanged. IG.V pick up the former DK roster and Newbee add Chaun.
Relatively stable in China, but the failures of the Chinese teams (excluding decent showings from EHOME and Vici) on the global stage is a concern to Chinese fans.
South East Asia
Yet another Mushi reshuffle. |
The big change here is Black and Fnatic parting ways. Black once again unable to gel with a foreign team moves back to Europe. Apart from the turmoil that seems to revolve around Mushi's teams, the SEA scene continues to grow and stabilize; it won't be long before a SEA team starts seriously threatening the established elite.
