Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
A beautiful fairy-tale. |
It will feature both a 'Classic Mode' which is simply a graphically updated version of the original game, and a 'Refined Mode' containing additional gameplay and story elements.
The gameplay differences between 'Classic' and 'Refined' appear to extensive. The 'Refined' version looks to have borrowed much from other more recent Vanillaware titles, such as Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Dragon's Crown.
Either one you choose, however, shouldn't affect your enjoyment of Odin Sphere's story. The way each of the five protagonists connect with each other, and intertwine with each other's stories, is masterful. It is a rare example of a story being used as a reward for mastering the gameplay, as opposed to the more modern trend of being hand-held from one objective to the next; there is a genuine sense of accomplishment in Odin Sphere, and the next twist and turn in the narrative is just reward.
The Storybook edition. |
Unfortunately, there is no mention of a European release on the official webpage, but it is available to pre-order in the Americas. The English language version of Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is scheduled to release in Spring 2016.
