Get Dunked: The Frankfurt Major
No Female Casting Talent
Nice distribution of invited male and female casters/analysts/hosts/panelists for the Frankfurt Major =_=

The TL;DR version of this is that we agree with Akke's recent blog (and his follow-up blog). Anything we would be saying would just be re-iterating something he's already said. Most people miss the point when this sort of topic comes up so it's encouraging to see a respected and likable player like Akke publicly denouncing someone like Thorin.
Personal preferences aside, Sheever is objectively as good a host as ReDeYe or Kotlguy, so unless she was unavailable and turned down an invite shit's fucked up. The fact that Maelk and Nahaz are on the analyst desk (they're associated with the even and we assume they'll act more like 'hosts') just unfortunately rubs salt into the wounds.
They're still all much more qualified than us. |
Speculative Predictions
We can't look past three teams that have a serious chance of winning, but we think that all of the invited teams, and the two teams making it through European Qualifiers, have a reasonable shot. So rather than just straight up predict a winner, we'll weigh up each team's chances.
EG - One of the three teams, don't be surprised to see them in the grand finals. If they can find a way to effectively split the jungle farm between Arteezy and Sumail they'll come out of Frankfurt victorious.
CDEC - The current patch hasn't been kind to them, will still do well but an over-reliance on comfort picks will be their undoing when facing any of the strong 'drafters' (PPD, s4, fng, Puppey).
LGD - Hugely disappointing recently, we predict the run will continue into Frankfurt.
Vici Gaming - One of the three, unfortunately we think their reliance on Alchemist will see them narrowly miss out on the grand finals.
Vega Squadron - We have no idea, like Alliance, Vega are impossible to predict but their surprise factor has gone and teams no longer underestimate them. Could go all the way though, an outside shot.
Team Secret - Winners, bit of a boring prediction but they're proving to be consistently the best team post TI5.
Virtus.Pro - 4-6th place, losing to the eventual winners.
EHOME - Like LGD, will be disappointing many.
Cloud 9 - No chance, the only prediction is that someone will probably punch Ritsu in the face.
Team Unknown - Unknown
Mineski - No chance sadly.
Fnatic - Depends if Mushi brings the magic, but like LGD and EHOME, we think Fnatic will be disappointing their fans.
Newbee/Newbee Young - Feels bad grouping these two together, but there's nothing to say on these two teams apart from Newbee Young will probably be a good bet for last place.
OG - 6th-8th, but will be a force at future if they stick together, but will possibly prove to be too clowny.
Alliance - They've looked very strong recently, especially in the qualifiers. All depends if s4 stays on point with his drafts, but if he does and the team pulls in the same direction, don't be surprised to see Alliance fighting in the final four.
